The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Akron Police have launched a homicide investigation in Middlebury, as confirmed by the medical examiner’s office. The incident, initially reported on July 2nd, is under examination due to the death of a man.
Andrew J. Cassell, who is 32 years old and from Uniontown, has been identified as the victim. According to the medical examiner, he sustained injuries from gunfire, including wounds to the head and chest.
Police were alerted by a 911 call around 7:15 p.m. about a suspicious entry at a residence on Kent Court. Upon arrival, officers observed the deceased with multiple gunshot injuries. The victim was declared deceased approximately 12 minutes later.
