Bailey Scott dies in fatal Moberly shooting
Fatal Moberly shooting death of Bailey Scott
Investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed today they’re examining a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday evening.
Moberly law enforcement responded to a shooting incident on East Logan Street and found a female deceased at the scene, a social media post from the Moberly Police Department revealed.
The Police Department has not disclosed any details about a suspect. However, they stated that the public is not in danger.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control is examining this situation at the request of the Moberly Police Department.
Even though authorities haven’t confirmed the identity of the deceased, acquaintances have shared their grief.
A gathering with a balloon release is set for 7 p.m. on Friday at Boozy Badger Bar and Grill in Moberly for Bailey Scott. Friends suggested Scott was the individual who passed away, but the authorities haven’t confirmed this.
One of the victim’s associates and former coworker, Lyndsey Smith, described Scott as an exceptionally kind person. “There’s no standard definition for a perfect person, but if there was, she would likely fit the description,” Smith noted. “She was fundamentally incapable of causing harm to anyone.”
Rayvon Davis, another acquaintance, shared a similar sentiment.
“She had a vibrant personality. She rarely spoke negatively about anyone, always radiated happiness, and frequently showed a smile,” Davis explained. “I feel completely numb, honestly. I’m confused as to why something like this would happen to Bailey. She was a beautiful person from the inside out. I just can’t comprehend why she’s gone.”
The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Moberly Police Department have not disclosed any information regarding the incident’s trigger.
“It wasn’t necessary to escalate things to that level. I don’t grasp what occurred, but she was definitely not a threat,” Smith added. “I’m uncertain about the situation, but killing her absolutely wasn’t the answer. We’ve undoubtedly lost a wonderful individual.”
The Missouri State Highway Patrol announced in a statement that an autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Law enforcement agencies are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop B at 660-385-2132.
