Bogdana Mygal dies in fatal Lake County car crash
Fatal Lake County car crash death of Bogdana Mygal
Lake County authorities have identified a 33-year-old Des Plaines woman as the individual killed in a multi-vehicle accident Saturday evening in Lake County. The collision left five others injured.
According to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, Bogdana Mygal died from injuries sustained in the impact. The fatal crash occurred around 10:15 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of West Russell and Frontage roads in Wadsworth.
Initial reports from authorities mistakenly identified Mygal as a Niles resident.
The sequence of events began when a 2020 Porsche Macan, being driven westbound on Russell Road by a 58-year-old Addison man, struck a vehicle ahead. The driver of the Porsche Macan allegedly rear-ended the 2016 Chevrolet Volt, which was stationary at the Frontage Road intersection.
The force of the initial collision pushed the stopped Chevrolet Volt into the rear of a 2020 Mercedes-Benz, driven by a 37-year-old woman from Rolling Meadows.
Bogdana Mygal, who was a passenger in the Chevrolet Volt, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Medical personnel pronounced her death at the hospital. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 35-year-old man, and a four-year-old girl passenger also sustained serious injuries and were hospitalized.
The occupants of the Mercedes-Benz, including a 37-year-old woman from Rolling Meadows and a 40-year-old man from Schaumburg, also suffered severe injuries and were treated at area medical facilities. The Porsche Macan driver, aged 58 from Addison, suffered serious injuries as well.
Sheriff’s Office reports indicate that excessive speed and potential alcohol impairment might have contributed to the Porsche driver’s actions. Law enforcement is considering criminal charges against the driver of the Porsche Macan.
