Fatal Asheville car crash death of Carlos Alfredo Amaya-Segovia
Investigators with the Asheville Police Department are examining a fatal collision that happened on Sunday morning on I-40. The incident involved a truck driver who lost control.
The victim, identified as 34-year-old Carlos Alfredo Amaya-Segovia, was reported to be operating a Ford F-250 pickup truck at the time. He was also pulling a trailer.
Due to a sudden breakdown with his vehicle, Amaya-Segovia managed to stop his truck safely on the right side of the road, near the 51-mile marker.
Another large truck, which was a Ford F-450 also pulling a trailer, then attempted to move into a different lane. This maneuver resulted in a direct impact with the first truck, which was not functioning properly.
As a result of the collision, Amaya-Segovia did not survive and died at the scene.
Further examination by authorities is currently being carried out to determine all details of the event.
