Law enforcement received a report around 6:40 p.m. Friday, July 4, regarding an unresponsive female discovered at the Deluxe Inn. Inside room number [redacted] law enforcement found Mary Elizabeth Ervin, a 30-year-old Hickory resident, deceased. The preliminary determination indicates Ms. Ervin sustained a suspected gunshot wound.
Investigators have identified 30-year-old James David Houser as the individual connected to this homicide. A warrant for Houser’s arrest was secured by authorities. The search for Houser continues actively as the investigation proceeds.
