Officials from the law enforcement agency confirmed the identity of the young female victim who passed away during an overnight detention period this past weekend. This 18-year-old individual was identified as Saniyah Cheatham.
According to information provided by the police department, she suffered a sudden loss of consciousness at a police station facility located in the Bronx area. The specific site was the 41st Precinct station, which is situated on Longwood Avenue.
The occurrence happened at around 12:40 in the early morning hours. In response, several officers attempted to perform emergency measures to revive her until help arrived from emergency medical personnel.
After being transported to a hospital, she was unfortunately pronounced dead, and no further medical recovery was possible.
