Fatal Lincoln County car crash death of Shelia Honeycutt Ballard
Emergency responders from the state highway patrol were dispatched to a collision site on Beth Haven Church Road, situated near Blue Sky Drive in Lincoln County on the afternoon of July 5th, 2025, around 2:40 p.m.
A fatal head-on impact occurred when a 2008 Cadillac Escalade, moving southbound, crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a 2014 Nissan Frontier traveling northbound.
The individual operating the Escalade, identified as Jomar Lamont Talbert II, who was 18 years old and from Iron Station, suffered minor injuries and was transported for medical attention.
Shelia Honeycutt Ballard, a 73-year-old from Catawba, was pronounced dead at the accident location; preliminary reports indicate she was not secured by a seatbelt during the incident.
Following the troopers’ assessment, factors such as excessive speed or impairment were ruled out as contributors to the crash, and the area’s roadway was closed for approximately one hour to allow for a thorough investigation.
Legal proceedings are currently under review, with charges pending once the case is fully examined and submitted to the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office for further consideration.
