Tallmadge, Ohio Man Ryan Vietmier Arrested in Summit County for Fatally Shooting His Father

TALLMADGE, OHIO — Ryan Vietmier, a 43-year-old resident of Tallmadge, was arrested in Summit County in connection with the fatal shooting of his father, Dennis Vietmier, on July 6.

According to the Tallmadge Police Department, Vietmier was taken into custody on Saturday at the scene of the shooting on the 500 block of Cynthia Lane. Authorities say the incident took place late that morning, when Vietmier called 911 and admitted to shooting his 75-year-old father, who was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the torso.

Dennis Vietmier was transported to Summa Health, where he was pronounced dead at 11:45 a.m., according to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Vietmier was arraigned July 7 in Stow Municipal Court and is currently being held at the Summit County Jail on charges of murder and domestic violence.
