Fatal Apple Valley car crash death of Rhylin Skye Ovalle
A 11-year-old girl identified as Rhylin Skye Ovalle from Apple Valley has passed away after being involved in a serious traffic collision. The incident happened on Interstate 15 around 6:49 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025, just south of Glen Helen Parkway.
Investigators with the California Highway Patrol are examining the cause, but initial reports indicate a white 2000 Ford Expedition, carrying six people including Rhylin and her relatives, lost control and veered sharply into the center median barrier. The vehicle overturned but remained upright in the southbound lanes.
Rhylin, who was a passenger in the SUV, suffered fatal injuries and was confirmed deceased at the scene. Her four siblings and parents were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two other cars—a white Tesla Model 3 and a black Maserati Grecale—were also part of the accident but reported no harm to their occupants.
In response to the heartbreaking loss, Rhylin’s family set up a GoFundMe page titled “Remembering Rhylin Skye Ovalle” to assist with funeral costs. The campaign highlights her vibrant personality, noting she was an enthusiastic fan of music, sports, and animals, and had a particular fondness for the musical “Hamilton.”
The family expressed that Rhylin’s legacy includes her close relationships with her three sisters, one brother, and her spiritual connection. They emphasized that all donations, regardless of size, will directly support her funeral arrangements and are deeply grateful for the community’s support during this challenging period.
The California Highway Patrol continues to probe the accident, and they have asked the public to reach out to Officer J. Gonzalez at the CHP San Bernardino Area office if they have any relevant information, using the phone number (909) 383-4227.
This tragic event has brought the community together, with many expressing sympathy and support for the Ovalle family. The incident has also highlighted the importance of road safety in the region.
