The fatal gas leak incident at the Oxford Circle Apartments in Lexington has led to the identification of the deceased as Samuel Gross, a 62-year-old resident of the city.

Fayette County’s official investigator, Gary Ginn, announced that the man killed in the gas leak has been confirmed as Samuel Gross, who was 62 and lived in Lexington.

According to the fire department’s statement, emergency responders were dispatched early Monday morning to the Oxford Circle Apartments located off Oxford Circle and Versailles Road following a report of a person experiencing breathing difficulties at the complex.

Upon their arrival, authorities discovered dangerous levels of flammable gases, including methane and carbon monoxide, which caused them to initiate a large-scale evacuation affecting more than 30 units in the building.

The underlying reasons for Samuel Gross’s death are still under thorough examination by the relevant authorities, with the incident being classified as a gas-related tragedy.

Those residents affected by the gas leak are permitted to seek temporary housing at the Harvest Worship Center, which is situated directly across the street from the apartment complex.
