TIM CONOVER DIES IN FATAL OAKLAND SHOOTING

Fatal OAKLAND shooting death of TIM CONOVER

Oakland police arrested an East Oakland resident in connection with the fatal weekend shooting outside a North Oakland residence. The suspect was taken into custody around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday and has not been identified.

The gunfire erupted around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, killing 37-year-old TIM CONOVER. Authorities confirmed his identity on Monday. According to police, the incident occurred on a sidewalk in the 800 block of 41st Street, an area between Market and Lusk streets known as a residential neighborhood.

CONOVER was outside his home on the sidewalk when the shooting occurred. He died at the scene before officers arrived. The person believed to have fired the weapon fled authorities before being apprehended.

Further information regarding the incident came to light through an online fundraiser organized for CONOVER’S family. The summary stated that the shooting happened following CONOVER’S hosting of a Fourth of July party for friends and neighbors. Police confirmed that the suspect had been invited to both the party and to stay overnight on CONOVER’S couch.

The fundraiser description painted a portrait of CONOVER as a devoted individual. “He was an amazing man who loved ZAZZI (his fianceé), his lovely children, ZYLIA and ZYLAN and all his family,” the online appeal read. “TIM was an example of loving without conditions. His heart was full of love and gave to all he could. He would feed you, laugh with you and send you home with a happy heart.”

The requested fundraising goal was $24,000. By 1:30 p.m. on Monday, the page had received $7,720 in contributions. A link to the donation page was provided via gofund.me/7108b08f.

This incident marks the 38th homicide the Oakland Police Department has investigated this year. Comparatively, at the same time last year, authorities investigated 50 homicides.
