Police authorities in Delaware City have confirmed the death of Craig Anderson following a tragic incident involving firearms. Anderson, a 39-year-old man, passed away as a result of injuries sustained during a shooting that occurred in the early hours of Monday morning. The fatal shooting took place in the 100 block of Fifth Street within the Delaware City Trailer Park vicinity.
The incident began around 9:27 a.m. on Monday when responding officers found Anderson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical intervention by emergency personnel, Anderson succumbed to his injuries. The fatal shooting investigation revealed that Anderson was involved in a prior disagreement with Shane Brank, a 22-year-old suspect.
According to preliminary findings, Brank engaged in a confrontation with Anderson. During this altercation, authorities report that Brank retrieved a weapon and discharged it multiple times towards Anderson before fleeing the immediate area. The search for the suspect expanded significantly after the shooting.
Investigators conducted a comprehensive search operation covering the terrain along the C&D Canal, adjacent wooded regions, and nearby residential communities. The search concluded successfully at approximately 1:10 p.m. with officers locating Brank secured within the backyard of a residence located in the 200 block of Seventh Street. Brank was taken into custody without any further disturbances. Financial bonds have been set at $560,000 pending further legal proceedings against Brank.
