Fatal Portland shooting death of Douglas Ivers

A man identified as Douglas Ivers, 50, from Portland, has died as a result of being shot. This occurred during a fatal shooting incident.

Officials confirmed Ivers passed away following injuries sustained in a shooting. The death has been classified as a homicide by law enforcement.

The person suspected of committing the shooting was named Hassan Mohamed Muse. He is 26 years old and also lives in Portland. This man was taken into custody and is expected to face charges including murder and misuse of a weapon.

Police officers shut down multiple city blocks in Portland on July 1st. This was necessary to locate the suspect. The initial shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Southwest 10th Avenue and Yamhill Street, which is close to the Central Library.

When the police arrived, the suspect, Muse, had already left the area on foot. Douglas Ivers was transported to OHSU Hospital, but his condition was critical, and he was pronounced deceased there.

Muse is scheduled to appear in court on July 11th for what is likely his first court date regarding this incident.
