The coroner, Buddy Bryan, confirmed the identity of the deceased individual as Gilbert Maulsby, an 84-year-old retired physician. The preliminary report indicates that Maulsby was a victim of a collision that occurred on Wednesday afternoon.
Law enforcement sources state that Maulsby’s automobile overturned after entering a depression approximately fifteen feet deep alongside the roadway. This incident happened near Cherokee Avenue. There were no other people injured or killed as a result of the accident.
Further examination is ongoing regarding the incident. The Columbus Police Department is currently investigating the cause of the accident.
