Fatal Illinois skydiving accident death of Dr. Noel Liu

The LaSalle County coroner recently identified the man who died during a skydiving mishap as Dr. Noel Liu. He was a dentist and business owner from East Peoria.

The 48-year-old man was an entrepreneur who established Secure Dental and DentVia with his spouse, Dr. Nazish Jafri, a physician. Following the tragedy, Dr. Jafri conveyed the news through his social media accounts. The Facebook post has attracted over one hundred thirty comments, many of which convey sympathy for the unexpected loss experienced by the community.

Dr. Jafri penned words expressing deep sorrow, noting that his partner “lived a life full of fulfillment and satisfaction, always pursuing his passions with enthusiasm and courage.” He also highlighted his positive impact: “Noel touched the lives of many with his warmth and enthusiasm… He was an amazing father, husband, son, brother, and mentor to many.” The emotional tribute suggests the deceased left a significant legacy.

On July 7, authorities including the LaSalle County Coroner, Richard Ploch, were dispatched to Skydive Chicago in Ottawa after the incident. An autopsy was performed the subsequent day. It was reported that preliminary findings from this examination are still pending, with the possibility of further investigation being considered.

Both the LaSalle County Coroner’s office and the Sheriff’s department continue to examine the incident. They are joined by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board in their ongoing probe.
