Fatal Washington car crash death of Edward Wiszczor Sr.
A 92-year-old Washington man has passed away following a collision in Mercer County. The victim, Edward Wiszczor Sr., was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The unfortunate accident transpired on Sunday evening. Emergency services were dispatched to the 1700 block of Route 19 in Fairview Township shortly after 7:00 PM.
According to state police reports, Mr. Wiszczor exited the west side of the road and entered the path of an oncoming vehicle. The driver, a 23-year-old Benjamin Williams from Volant, was operating the other automobile at the time of the incident.
Mercer County officials confirmed Mr. Wiszczor’s death occurred at 7:30 PM. The Chief Deputy Coroner, Robert Snyder, attributed the fatality to multiple injuries and officially ruled the incident an accident.
Edward Wiszczor Sr. held significant service to his community. His military history includes service in the United States Army during the Korean War era. He was also an active member of the American Legion Post No. 175 and the Moose Lodge located in Washington.
His life involved various interests and occupations. The obituary notes he cherished activities like camping and fishing, and valued family time immensely. For a significant portion of his life, he worked at Molycorp as a dedicated steel worker for thirty-five years.
