Identified as one of the deceased individuals involved in a severe traffic accident on Interstate 10 near Cathedral City, Miguel Macias was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision. He was 49 years old and resided in Santa Ana. The incident occurred shortly after 6:40 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, when a large truck deviated from its path and entered the opposite lane, resulting in multiple vehicle impacts.

According to reports from the California Highway Patrol, the truck driver executed an improper maneuver by crossing the central divider, which caused the vehicle to overturn and strike several cars. Among the vehicles involved were a Mercury Mountaineer, a Toyota Camry, a Chevrolet Malibu, and a Cadillac Escalade, along with others. Tragically, those ejected from their vehicles, including the Mercury driver and a passenger in the Camry who was not secured by a seatbelt, did not survive the crash. Additionally, the other victim, Francisco Sicairos Leon, a Desert Hot Springs resident aged 58, was also killed in the incident.

The occupants of the Camry and Malibu, as well as the driver of the Escalade, suffered significant injuries and were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for treatment. The status of the truck driver remains unknown at this time. The eastbound lanes of the freeway were shut down for several hours, with full reopening happening at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday.
