Inside the residence, responders discovered the remains of a 67-year-old man identified as Donald Robert. Officials initially considered the situation suspicious and transferred the investigation to the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit for further examination.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing one person fleeing the area while their clothes were reportedly on fire. As a result, two young suspects were arrested and formally charged with manslaughter and arson, including a count of endangering human life.

Due to their age, the identities of the accused are shielded by the Youth Criminal Justice Act, preventing public disclosure.
