Law enforcement officials reported a fatal shooting incident occurring in the early hours of Sunday at a parking area situated outside a place of business in Goldsboro. Responding teams arrived on the scene at the Summer Nights Dominican Restaurant, which is situated on East Ash Street, at approximately 3:10 that morning. Upon their arrival, the officers found an individual, later identified as Derrick Maye, who was 39 years old, suffering from multiple gunshot injuries in the vicinity of the vehicle park. Emergency medical services were summoned, and Maye was transported quickly to the UNC Health Wayne medical center. Regrettably, despite the efforts of the medical professionals, he succumbed to the life-threatening injuries he sustained. Officials have confirmed that this incident is currently being treated as an active law enforcement probe.
