Fatal South Bend falling tree death of Douglas Pendleton
The South Bend law enforcement agency confirmed yesterday that seventy-seven-year-old Douglas Pendleton, a resident of Indianapolis, is the individual struck by a falling branch on the day before yesterday. His companion, Linda Pendleton, was also present at the scene. According to the city’s police department, which released a public statement, Linda Pendleton received medical attention at a hospital and doctors anticipate her recovery. Tragically, Douglas Pendleton did not survive the injuries he sustained at the location of the incident.
Emergency responders from the South Bend Police Division were dispatched to the area near West Washington Street, specifically the six hundred block, close to the well-known Tippecanoe Place landmark, during the evening hours of July eleventh. The initial report indicated that two people had been harmed by a tree that had come down. The police authority reiterated that information.
Following the incident, the St. Joseph County official responsible for investigating deaths decided that the situation constituted an accident. Consequently, no further examination is planned by county authorities.
