Alabama State Troopers have confirmed the identity of the deceased. The individual killed in this tragic event was James J. Mitchell, who was 49 years old at the time of his passing.

The crash took place on Alabama 25, situated near Shelby County 7. This location is approximately three miles south of the community known as Wilsonville.

Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey provided details about the circumstances surrounding the accident. He stated that Mitchell was operating a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck at the time of the incident. According to the trooper, the vehicle departed the roadway, subsequently striking a cable box and then colliding with a tree.

A significant factor in this case was the victim’s lack of seatbelt use. Trooper Bailey mentioned that Mitchell was ejected from the truck due to the force of the collision.

Emergency medical services responded swiftly to the scene. Mitchell was transported via helicopter to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for urgent medical treatment. Regrettably, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
