Fatal Winton Hills shooting death of Nehemiah McMillion

Cincinnati law enforcement reported that just before the midnight hour on Sunday, officers were dispatched to Este Avenue in Winton Hills regarding a stolen car that had collided with another vehicle. Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered a person injured in the back seat of the vehicle, suffering from a serious wound caused by a gunshot. The injured individual was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, but unfortunately, succumbed to their injuries.

Further investigation revealed that the deceased individual, identified as Nehemiah McMillion, was twelve years old. Police have officially named the person they suspect is responsible for the shooting as Darius McGrew, a man of 31 years of age. McGrew has been formally charged with the offense of murder in connection with McMillion’s death.

According to information gathered at the scene, the suspect was someone the officers had apprehended and was giving them statements when the fatal shooting occurred. Additionally, police noted that several individuals who were inside the stolen vehicle had fled on foot, disappearing into nearby woods. Subsequently, dispatchers informed the responding officers that another teenager had been transported to Children’s Hospital due to a gunshot wound, separate from the deceased.

At this time, police have not clarified the connection between the stolen vehicle incident, the initial apprehension, and the fatal shooting.
