Fatal Gwinnett County shooting death of Pilar Rosas
Investigators in Gwinnett County are examining a “domestic-related fatality” that claimed two lives on Sunday afternoon, authorities confirmed. The scene was located in the unincorporated area of Stone Mountain, specifically on Stone Hill Drive.
According to law enforcement, the incident was reported around 4 p.m. on Sunday following emergency calls from a family member. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 43-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man deceased, both victims of gunshot injuries. Preliminary reports suggest one wound was self-inflicted.
Juan Reyes, the police spokesperson, stated that the shooting likely stemmed from a personal disagreement between two individuals who were familiar with each other. He added that the medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death, but initial findings indicate the self-inflicted wound played a role.
Crime scene analysts were at the residence for several hours collecting evidence, and officials noted that no other suspects are being sought in connection with the incident. The two victims had been in a long-term relationship but did not reside together.
Local residents expressed shock and concern. Maranda Perez, a neighbor, shared her fear: “This is unsettling here. I’m terrified now. It could have been right outside our door, and we have young children at home.” Similarly, Warrent Brumfield remarked, “Hearing about something like this so close by is beyond shocking.”
The investigation is ongoing, and Gwinnett Police have indicated they will provide additional updates as more information becomes available.
