A tragic industrial mishap on Friday claimed the life of a man who was struck by an asphalt-paving roller in a parking area, and his identity was recently confirmed. The incident occurred at the Glenn Crossing Plaza shopping center, located at 7421 Oswego Road in Clay.
Thomas Newton, serving as a spokesperson for the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, announced that the individual who passed away is Rendolph Larose, aged 41, and a resident of Syracuse. According to the official statement, Newton provided details about the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate event.
Deputies from the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at approximately 4:53 p.m. on Friday, when they were dispatched to the accident in the parking lot at 7421 Oswego Road, which is part of the Glenn Crossing Plaza shopping center. Newton shared that Larose was pronounced deceased at the location where the accident happened.
The ongoing investigation is being treated as an accident, and the driver of the roller is cooperating fully with the deputies, according to Newton. However, the driver’s identity has not been disclosed. It has been reported that the driver works for Orchard Earth and Pipe of Solvay.
