A 19-year-old man from North Chicago died early Sunday morning after being shot during a Halloween gathering held in the Lake Forest area. According to authorities, the fatal shooting happened around 12:05 a.m. in the 1300-block of West Estate Lane East in Lake Forest.

The identified victim was Shaft Wilson Jr., whose father provided the confirmation. Law enforcement spokesperson Christopher Covelli mentioned that the shooter was someone the victim knew, and the incident began as an argument outside the residence where the party was being held. As of Sunday night, the shooter was not in police custody.

In addition to the deceased, a 20-year-old woman sustained an injury when partygoers departed and accidentally trampled her. Covelli stated that over 100 individuals attended the party, which was hosted by the homeowner; however, the hosts were not present at the time of the incident.

Police authorities have indicated that the shooting was targeted and not a random act. They have not issued a statement suggesting any ongoing threat to the local community. Law enforcement personnel remained at the scene on Sunday night.

The victim’s father went to the police station seeking clarification and answers concerning his son’s death. “I just want to know what happened. How did he die, why did he die?” expressed Shaft Wilson, Sr., the father.

Public safety officials did not identify any specific suspect in connection with the shooting. They are actively seeking information from the public.
