Fatal Charleston car crash death of Oliver Krauth

The authorities in Charleston County have officially identified the man who was killed in a hit-and-run incident that took place on July 11th.

Preliminary investigations by the Charleston Police Department indicate that Mr. Krauth, a 70-year-old gentleman who used a wheelchair, was crossing the intersection of Paul Cantrell Boulevard and Henry Tecklenburg Drive when he was struck by a vehicle around 9:00 p.m. on that date.

Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene, but the individual involved in the collision had already departed before their arrival at the location.

The hospital where Mr. Krauth was taken, MUSC, reported that his death was a direct result of the severe trauma he received from being hit by the other car.
