A 36-year-old man, identified as Omar Tovar, was pronounced deceased at the scene following an intersection collision on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach. The pedestrian fatality occurred on Sunday afternoon, with authorities confirming the death was related to the vehicular incident.
Medical examiner’s office personnel confirmed the identity of the pedestrian victim on Monday. According to the Long Beach Fire Department, emergency responders arrived and pronounced the individual deceased immediately after the westbound motorist collided with him near Golden Avenue.
The driver involved remained present at the intersection during the investigation conducted by the Long Beach Police Department. Initial findings by law enforcement indicated that speeding, inattentive driving, and under the influence of alcohol or drugs were not considered contributing factors to this pedestrian’s death.
