Amir Bradshear dies in fatal Jacksonville shooting
Fatal Jacksonville shooting death of Amir Bradshear
Jacksonville authorities identified the deceased individual as Amir Bradshear, a 26-year-old male. According to official reports, law enforcement officers discharged their weapons during a nighttime disturbance, resulting in the man’s death.
The incident began around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday when officers responded to a residence located in the 12500 block of Brahma Bull Circle West. Reports indicate officers encountered a chaotic scene upon arrival. The residence was forced entry as officers heard distress calls from inside.
An investigation revealed the suspect was involved in a physical altercation with a female occupant. The male subject reportedly held the woman by her hair and continued to resist officers’ attempts to de-escalate the situation. Law enforcement used multiple Taser deployments, but these were insufficient to subdue the suspect or allow the woman to safely exit the room.
After approximately 30-45 minutes of attempted communication, the suspect became increasingly aggressive. Despite sustaining injuries from previous Taser applications, he attacked responding officers, reportedly biting one during a struggle that displaced furniture. Multiple officers and a sergeant subsequently engaged the suspect, leading to the fatal shooting.
Emergency medical services provided care at the scene before transporting the victim to a local medical facility. The suspect’s cause of death was attributed to multiple gunshot wounds.
JSO officials declined to name the specific officers involved in the fatal shooting. Sheriff T.K. Waters characterized the situation as highly unusual, noting officers faced a difficult, uncooperative subject who continued to resist even after being incapacitated.
Several individuals sustained minor injuries during the incident, including the female victim and law enforcement personnel. JSO’s cold case unit is examining the incident while the State Attorney’s office conducts an independent review.
This event represents the 11th officer-involved shooting for the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in 2025, slightly exceeding the eight incidents recorded during the same period in 2024.
