Fatal Springfield shooting death of Eric Wilson
According to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, officers arrived at an apartment on Orange Street in Springfield late Friday after receiving a report regarding a gunshot wound incident. Two individuals were discovered at the scene, both apparently injured by gunfire.
One of the injured individuals was transported to Baystate Medical Center in critical condition. Springfield resident Eric Wilson, who was 54 years old, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday. His identity was confirmed by the District Attorney’s office.
The second individual involved in the incident has not yet been identified, though they were reported to have suffered injuries that were not immediately life-threatening.
No arrests have been made in connection with this shooting incident.
The Springfield Police Homicide Unit, directed by Captain Trent Duda, is collaborating with the Hampden District Attorney’s Murder Unit to investigate this case as a homicide.
