Minneapolis authorities confirmed Tuesday evening that a man in his late twenties was killed following a violent incident. The fatal shooting occurred in the 1500 block of 11th Avenue S., where police established a secured perimeter for their investigation.
According to police reports, an argument between individuals with prior acquaintance on a downtown street resulted in the fatal shooting. The incident started around 6:30 p.m. with unknown initial hostilities escalating to involve firearms.
Emergency medical services responded promptly to the scene, but the injured individual was pronounced deceased at the location. The unfortunate victim was identified as Lafayette Collaso, 30, who was shot near his residence.
A close associate of Collaso, Qiana Foster, expressed shock over the circumstances surrounding her friend’s death. Foster emphasized Collaso’s gentle nature, stating, “He wasn’t someone who caused trouble, which makes this situation even more confusing and raises questions about his role in the incident.”
Investigators are actively gathering testimonies from eyewitnesses and family members located in the vicinity of U.S. Bank Stadium. Surveillance videos from area cameras are considered valuable evidence in the ongoing inquiry.
