Northport officials have confirmed a fatality resulting from a severe collision on Wednesday. The event occurred on U.S. Highway 43, situated near the intersection with State Route 171.
The individual who passed away is Vonchelle Renee Gamble, a 36-year-old resident of Tuscaloosa. She was employed by the United States Postal Service and was piloting a postal service vehicle at the time of the incident.
Emergency crews arrived to find a multi-car accident involving four automobiles. Three other people received minor medical attention due to the collision.
Traffic control rerouted vehicles around the affected area on U.S. Highway 43. The highway was fully accessible to motorists again by 7:00 p.m.
