Emergency responders were dispatched after a Shot Spotter alert indicated multiple gunfire in a specific city area. A 23-year-old man, identified as Cameron Demijah Little, was confirmed deceased at the East Lake Park location following the disturbance late Wednesday night.
Upon receiving notification from the Shot Spotter system indicating approximately ten shots fired in the vicinity of the 100 block of 84th Street North, police went to the scene shortly after 11:30 p.m. The responding officers found Cameron Demijah Little unresponsive. He was pronounced dead by the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service at 12:01 a.m.
Initial information from Officer De’Rell Freeman suggested a mixed group of people were present at the park when the gunfire occurred. The circumstances behind the shooting were described as unclear by authorities. There was also mention of a second person being injured by gunfire but surviving the incident.

A separate violent incident resulted in a 38-year-old man’s death, Corey Lavel Tremble, early Thursday morning in the Ensley neighborhood. West Precinct officers arrived at the 700 block of 17th Street around 3 a.m. following a report about a body on the ground.
When the first responders arrived, they located Corey Lavel Tremble with fatal gunshot wounds. Medical personnel with the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced him dead at 3:37 a.m. A passerby reportedly discovered the body and called for emergency assistance. The specifics surrounding this shooting event were not immediately clear.
These two homicides significantly increased the city’s total number of killings for the year 2025 to 42. The countywide count for Jefferson County showed 66 homicides so far this year.
