Fatal Catawba County car crash death of Christopher Carter
Law enforcement authorities have stated that speeding was a major reason behind a deadly one-vehicle accident in Catawba County earlier this week. The incident resulted in the death of the driver.
The accident occurred around 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 17th, along Whitener Road, which is situated close to Yonder Farm Road in Hickory. Initial reports described how the individual involved lost control of the vehicle and drove off the side of the road, ultimately colliding with a tree. Medical examiners confirmed that Christopher Carter, a resident of Newton and 51 years old, did not survive the collision.
Investigators have conducted a preliminary examination and concluded that driving at an unsafe speed was a key element in the crash. As a result, local authorities had to close the road for about an hour to carry out their on-site assessment.
