The Oregon State Police confirmed that David Peter Jorgensen, a Washington resident aged 88, was killed in a serious vehicular collision on Highway 22.
The incident transpired around 4:12 p.m. on July 17, prompting police to respond to a two-vehicle accident report.
Authorities explained that Jorgensen was operating a Kawasaki EJ650 motorcycle on Kings Valley Highway and stopped at the intersection with Highway 22.
He attempted to cross the highway and collided with the side of a westbound Kenworth log truck driven by a 60-year-old man from Sheridan.
Medical professionals at the scene declared Jorgensen deceased, while the truck driver suffered no injuries.
Highway 22 was closed for investigation purposes for approximately five hours, with the Oregon Department of Transportation reopening it at about 8:52 p.m.
