Fatal Polk County car crash death of David Peter Jorgensen
Oregon State Police were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 22W at its intersection with Highway 223 on July 17, 2025, at 4:12 p.m.
According to initial reports, a Kawasaki EJ650 motorcycle traveling north, driven by David Peter Jorgensen (88) from Oak Harbor, Washington, halted on Highway 223. This motorcycle attempted to cross over into the westbound lane of Highway 22W and collided with the side of a Kenworth log truck being driven westbound by Timothy Lawrence May (60) from Sheridan.
David Peter Jorgensen, the motorcycle operator, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Kenworth driver, Timothy Lawrence May, was reported to have sustained no injuries.
The incident led to significant traffic disruption as the highway was closed for about five hours while police conducted their investigation. Oregon Department of Transportation personnel provided support to the Oregon State Police during this time.
