Fatal San Antonio crash death of Maria De Rosario Sanchez, Tito Guerra, and Gonzalo Aguirre
Three individuals—Maria De Rosario Sanchez, 79, bus driver Tito Guerra, and Gonzalo Aguirre—lost their lives in a devastating multi-vehicle crash in San Antonio involving a passenger bus and a stolen vehicle. The tragic collision also left at least 16 others injured, with victims ranging in age from young children to the elderly.
The incident occurred around 2 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 35 when a white Camaro, reportedly stolen, was traveling at high speed and struck a trailer connected to a Transportes Guerra passenger bus headed to Mexico from Fort Worth. The impact caused the bus to veer into the path of a tractor-trailer, hit a guardrail, and then flip onto its side. Several passengers were thrown from the bus during the rollover.
Authorities initially believed four suspects fled the crash scene, including one individual reportedly armed with an AK-style rifle. However, police have since said the exact number of people who fled remains unknown, and none have been identified or located.
Two elderly bus passengers were declared deceased at the scene. Two additional victims succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital.
Family members confirmed that Maria De Rosario Sanchez, described as the heart of her family and a resilient matriarch, was among the deceased. She is remembered for her strength, joy, and devotion to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Tito Guerra, who was driving the bus at the time of the crash, also died. He was recognized by his family as a valued and committed individual.
The third confirmed victim, Gonzalo Aguirre, was reportedly traveling to Coahuila, Mexico, to visit relatives. According to Silva Gonzalez Villanueva, whose daughter is married to Aguirre’s son, he was a hardworking family man who lived in the United States.
The company operating the bus, Transportes Guerra, closed its Fort Worth office following the crash. A floral tribute was placed outside in remembrance of those who died.
San Antonio Police have not released further details regarding whether law enforcement was in pursuit of the Camaro or when it was reported stolen. The investigation remains ongoing.
