The fatality occurred after a collision on Saturday, July 19th, involving a vehicle heading north and another exiting the Zaxby’s parking area on North 16th Avenue.
Investigations by the Laurel Police Department indicate the fatal car crash happened around 5:30 p.m. near the fast-food restaurant.
Officials reported a collision at Zaxby’s in Laurel on Saturday, resulting in one fatality and one individual needing medical attention.
According to Chief Earl Reed, a driver traveling north was involved in the accident with a vehicle that was pulling out of the Zaxby’s parking lot.
The person who died was one of the drivers in the collision, who succumbed to their injuries, while the other driver suffered relatively minor harm.
Chief Reed expressed sympathy, stating, “My heart goes out to the victims. We definitely will keep them in prayer.”
The Jones County Coroner has officially announced that the deceased is Lauren Shows, a 40-year-old individual employed at Zaxby’s.
