Fatal Council Grove City Lake drowning death of Mark Moore

A social media update from the Council Grove Police Department indicated that authorities were alerted to a possible disappearance or drowning incident at the lake on Saturday morning. The initial notification arrived at approximately 9:35 a.m. on July 19, prompting an urgent response.

A coordinated effort involving emergency services from the Council Grove Police Department, Council Grove Fire/Rescue, Morris County EMS, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, Herington Rescue, Morris County Emergency Management, and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office was launched. These teams converged on the location near 124 Scenic Circle.

After a prolonged search spanning several hours, the searchers located the deceased individual, who was identified as Mark Moore, a 66-year-old resident of Topeka. Medical personnel confirmed that he had passed away.

The Council Grove Police Department released a statement conveying sincere sympathy to Mr. Moore’s family during this emotionally taxing time.
