Robert L. Lynn Dies in Fatal Submerged Vehicle Incident Near Wolftever Bridge
Hamilton County, TN – Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched today to report of a serious vehicle accident on Highway 58 near Wolftever Bridge involving a vehicle that had left the road and become submerged in water. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered a vehicle submerged in the water.
Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies immediately entered the water to rescue the driver. Despite these efforts, the 41-year-old Robert L. Lynn, who was inside the submerged vehicle, was pronounced deceased. Rescue divers were then called in to locate the body.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department, Dallas Bay Fire Department, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services, Tennessee State Parks, and Hamilton County STARS.
Hamilton County Sheriff Austin Garrett expressed his respect for the emergency responders involved. “I observed our deputies, alongside personnel from the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department, Dallas Bay Fire & Rescue, Hamilton County STARS, TWRA, Tennessee State Parks, and HCEMS, work tirelessly to save lives today,” he stated. “Regrettably, time was against us, turning what could have been a rescue into a recovery operation. As Sheriff, I cannot adequately express how proud I am of the first responders in our county. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Mr. Lynn.”
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the cause of this unfortunate incident.
