Fatal St. Helens shooting death of Kyle Graham

Law enforcement officials have officially identified the individual who passed away during a tragic weekend event in Columbia County. The incident occurred in the Deer Island vicinity along Highway 30.

Investigators reported that a sheriff’s deputy was engaged in a pursuit involving a suspect driving a Kia Optima. The vehicle lost control during the chase, resulting in a fatal collision where it departed the roadway and tumbled down an embankment. When the deputy approached the disabled vehicle, the suspect—who authorities later confirmed was armed—confronted the officer. This confrontation led to gunfire, and the suspect, identified as 47-year-old Kyle Graham, was struck by a bullet. Despite medical intervention, Graham did not survive the injuries.

No members of the law enforcement team were injured during the incident. The deputy involved in the operation has been placed on administrative leave, a standard procedure in such circumstances.
