Fatal Brescia plane crash death of Sergio Ravaglia and Anna Maria De Stefano.
A compact airplane executed a steep descent and struck the A21 Cordamolle–Ospitale highway near Brescia in northern Italy. The aircraft crashed shortly after its ascent, resulting in a massive fire upon contact with the roadway.
Sergio Ravaglia, a 75-year-old lawyer, and Anna Maria De Stefano, aged 50, were confirmed as the people on board who did not survive the incident. Two motorists driving cars were affected by the subsequent blaze; one person was admitted to a medical facility, while the other received preliminary care at the scene.
Firefighting crews and emergency personnel arrived quickly at the location, extinguishing the flames and ensuring the crash area was safe. To manage the situation, traffic was halted in both directions along the impacted section of the highway.
Video evidence from closed-circuit television recorded the accident, displaying the airplane’s dramatic plunge and explosion onto the road. Eyewitnesses recounted hearing a powerful sound before the aircraft descended rapidly and detonated. Authorities in Italy are examining the accident to determine its origins.
