A man identified as Eric Zamora has died due to a gunshot wound sustained during a shooting incident on the city’s Northwest Side, authorities reported.

The fatal shooting took place around mid-afternoon on a street block near West Avenue, according to local police.

Zamora was involved in a transaction with an unidentified 27-year-old individual regarding jewelry and marijuana, reports indicate.

At the location, Zamora allegedly attempted to rob the 27-year-old man outside their shared vehicle, police stated.

In response, the 27-year-old drew a weapon and fired at Zamora, leading to the suspect’s death at the scene.

Emergency medical services transported Zamora to a hospital, but he was pronounced deceased.

San Antonio police confirmed the death was a homicide, with the medical examiner attributing it to a gunshot wound to the back.
