Scott Webber dies in fatal Stetson car crash.
Fatal Stetson car crash death of Scott Webber.
Maine State Police reported a fatal collision on Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Lapoint and Merrill roads in Stetson. The incident occurred around 1:09 p.m. and involved a dump truck and a tractor-trailer, leading to the death of a man from Glenburn.
The victim, identified as 64-year-old Scott Webber, passed away during transport to the hospital. Police stated that the driver of the tractor-trailer, Peter Omweno, a 39-year-old from Denton, Texas, received serious injuries and was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
Investigators believe Omweno failed to stop at the stop sign before the collision, which resulted in the tractor-trailer striking Webber’s vehicle. The dump truck was heading east on Merrill Road and was subsequently overturned in the impact.
Emergency services from Levant and Hermon, along with multiple agencies, responded to the scene. The accident caused significant delays as crews worked to clear the area for several hours. Central Maine Power also dispatched personnel because the tractor-trailer damaged a utility pole, which broke and landed on the trailer.
