Fatal car crash death of Wesley Moimeme.
Law enforcement officials are seeking assistance from the public following the release of an image of a pickup truck they suspect was involved in a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a man within Broward County earlier this month, according to the sheriff’s office.
At approximately 12:55 a.m. on July 8, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office initiated an inquiry regarding a collision involving injuries, occurring near 600 N. Powerline Road in Pompano Beach. Responding units included deputies from the sheriff’s office and emergency services from Pompano Beach Fire Rescue.
Initial reports indicate that a man, later identified as 28-year-old Wesley Moimeme, was reportedly in the area of the road when he was hit by an unidentified motor vehicle. The incident happened in the southbound lanes of North Powerline Drive, north of Northwest 6th Street. Following the impact, the driver of the vehicle involved departed the scene. Medical personnel arrived and confirmed that Moimeme had passed away at the location.
As their probe continues, members of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office’s Traffic Homicide unit released a photograph on Thursday. This image shows a vehicle that authorities believe may be the one responsible for the incident—a large pickup truck, likely painted silver or gray.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with details about the driver or the vehicle to get in touch with THI Det. Carlos De Jesus from the Traffic Homicide division at the number (954) 321-4842.
