Fatal fire death of Eric Greener and Sheila Jackson has been reported. The tragic event took place in Merseyside, specifically on South John Street.
The fire department were called to the scene at South John Street shortly before midnight on July 15th. Emergency responders worked diligently to evacuate the occupants and provide medical treatment to the injured.
Investigators have identified a 46-year-old man, Lee Owens, who is currently without a fixed home, as the individual responsible for setting the blaze. He has been formally charged with two counts of murder alongside arson that was intended to cause harm.
The investigation revealed the use of an accelerant to deliberately ignite the fire within the dwelling where the victims had lived for fifteen years. The pair, both aged in their late seventies, unfortunately passed away within the following days after the incident.
Mr Greener passed away on the evening of July 16th, while his wife, Ms. Sheila Jackson, passed away the next morning.
The victims’ kin issued a heartfelt statement expressing their profound loss and fond memories of the couple. They described them as vibrant individuals who were deeply cherished.
A 31-year-old resident of St Helens, whose identity has not been disclosed here, is currently on bail pending further inquiries into this horrific case.
