Kentucky State Police officials confirmed that a man, identified as 21-year-old Todd St. John, was killed when his personal vehicle collided with a deputy’s patrol car in Corbin on Thursday afternoon.

Police indicated that the driver of the recreational vehicle involved was not secured with a seatbelt at the time of the accident, although the passenger was. Alcohol played a role in the incident, and during the collision, the deputy’s cruiser and the four-wheeler flipped onto their sides.

State Police informed local media outlets that they are examining the incident, with a detective assigned to reconstruct the accident and continue the investigation.

Officials stated that the passenger from the recreational vehicle and the deputy involved in the stop suffered minor injuries, while the 21-year-old driver was transported to a nearby hospital and later pronounced deceased.
