The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office officially identified the individual who lost their life during a serious collision on the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 late on Saturday night. This occurred shortly after midnight, close to the vicinity of DeForest.
The eighteen-year-old victim, Hallie J. Helgeson, hailing from Montevideo, Minnesota, was pronounced deceased at the accident site by responding emergency medical services.
The official medical examiner confirmed that Miss Helgeson’s death resulted directly from the severe injuries incurred during the primary collision. Further, laboratory tests and additional forensic analysis are currently being conducted to gather more comprehensive details regarding the incident.
Complicating the situation, while state troopers were responding to the first crash, a separate, second accident took place. In this incident, a driver operating a motor vehicle with indications of alcohol impairment struck an unoccupied police vehicle belonging to the DeForest Police Department. This secondary crash occurred as officers were providing assistance at the initial scene.
Both the original fatal accident and the subsequent collision are currently being examined by relevant law enforcement agencies, including the Wisconsin State Patrol.
