Jalen Hudson dies in fatal Portland shooting
Fatal Portland shooting death of Jalen Hudson
The Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office has officially confirmed that Jalen Hudson, an 18-year-old man, died from gunshot wounds. Portland authorities are currently investigating this tragic incident, which occurred in the city.
The fatal shooting took place in the Portsmouth neighborhood on the morning of July 20. According to reports, police officers responded to the area shortly before 11:00 a.m. after receiving notifications about gunfire in the vicinity of the 9300 block of North Newman Avenue.
Upon their arrival, officers found Jalen Hudson suffering from injuries caused by gunfire. Emergency medical services personnel provided initial aid at the scene. Tragically, Hudson did not survive these life-threatening wounds.
An autopsy performed by the county medical examiner determined that gunshot wounds were the direct cause of death. The official documentation further classifies this death as a homicide.
In their ongoing probe, police are actively seeking video evidence. They have requested that residents and businesses in the neighborhood bounded by North Columbia Boulevard, North Houghton Street, North Portsmouth Avenue, and North Chautauqua Boulevard contribute any recorded footage from approximately 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on July 20.
Investigators have stressed the importance of collecting unedited video recordings directly from contributors. They explicitly asked that individuals not alter the files or combine different pieces of evidence.
A local resident, Palmer Butler, shared his dismay over the violence, calling the neighborhood typically safe. He indicated he heard multiple gunshots ring out before deciding to go back inside his home.
A memorial has been set up at the precise spot where Jalen Hudson was killed. Police officials have confirmed that the person who fired the weapon has not been identified and is currently at large. They are hopeful that the gathered video evidence will provide crucial information.
“I am deeply concerned about the Hudson family and the Barber family,” Butler expressed. “I sincerely hope they can find justice in this situation soon.”
Investigators have informed the public that they will carefully review all submitted video materials. They have also stated their readiness to contact individuals for additional information if necessary.
