Justin Lemire and Shelia Lemire died in a fatal Jefferson County collision
A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene following a fatal motorcycle collision in Jefferson County.
State Police reported that around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, a 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which was traveling westbound in an eastbound lane of Route 181, collided with a 2014 GMC Terrain.
The occupants of the motorcycle, identified as Justin Lemire, aged 35, and Shelia Lemire, aged 47, both from LaFargeville, were ejected upon impact. Troopers confirmed both were pronounced dead at the scene on Monday.
Shortly after the initial crash, a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle involved in a separate incident struck debris from the first accident and subsequently crashed.
The rider of that motorcycle, identified as Johnathan Heyl, aged 52, was ejected and suffered serious injuries. He was transported via helicopter to Upstate University Hospital.
The GMC vehicle caught fire following the first collision, but the woman driving the SUV and her passenger declined medical transport.
