Fatal Atlanta shooting death of Aaron Hines

Police in Atlanta have charged Tavaris Williams, 36, with murder and other offenses following two separate homicides on Thursday that occurred within a few miles of each other. The charges relate to a fatal shooting at a townhome on Skylar Way SE.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, Williams was arrested while authorities were investigating the death of a man at a Shell gas station on Memorial Drive on the same day. Prosecutors have indicated they are considering charges against Williams in that separate incident as well.

The fatal shooting on Memorial Drive occurred around midday at the gas station. A man, later confirmed as Aaron Hines by acquaintances, was killed by gunshot wounds.

This news follows reports of another shooting incident later that day. Responding officers were dispatched to a townhome complex on Skylar Way around 2:30 p.m. A 33-year-old man was found shot and succumbed to his injuries. The victim at the townhome is identified as Aaron Hines.

The two fatal shootings took place approximately five miles apart.

Law enforcement officials have not yet released information regarding the motives or circumstances preceding either shooting.

This report is still developing. Atlanta News First will provide further updates as information becomes available.
